Gil Ribeiro

Gil Ribeiro is a Portuguese photographer based in Lisbon, best known for his colour-rich images. He studied cinematography in Dortmund, Germany where he graduated in 2014.

Despite growing up in Lisbon, he learned to see his hometown with a new pair of eyes after returning in 2019 from an 18-year adventure abroad.

Influenced by his travels to different parts of the world and equipped with a demanding eye of a cinematographer, Gil manages to capture in his pictures the not so typical sides of Lisbon. Gil works purely intuitively and instinctively, without a concept. It’s all about attraction and experiencing what’s around him. His pictures stand out for their harmonious mix in colour, composition, light, timing and storytelling. Only when all those factors combine within a frame, does he feel satisfied.

His work has been published in magazines and sites like Timeout Lisboa, Street Photographers Foundation and Chiiz Magazine.
